the story
philo
global majority-led, decolonial spaces for creative expression, exploration and imagination

mission
philo exists to create liberatory, creative community spaces where children and families can belong.
founded by parents, educators and artists, we design learning and play experiences that centre children's voice, emotional wellbeing and collective care.
we believe creativity is how communities thrive and we have all we need.

vision
to see innovators, artists and pioneers within our communities regardless of age have access to space for creative expression and develop tools for liberation.

values

care
practicing care as we hold each other and are held, as we centre others by listening and learning intergenerationally. an ongoing equitable process and a fundamental need of the person, place and the planet.

play
a child's work but we think it should be an adult's too!
through experimentation, creativity and open-ended play we believe as a community we can strengthen our physical and mental health, as well as form communal bonds of support, resistance and fun.

voice
"lift every voice" (NAACP, 1919)
empowering intergenerational voices from the margins so everyone makes their valuable mark shaping our collective sound.

liberation
recognising our collective struggle, we journey together through our wounds and healing as a community to find freedom from oppression in many forms.
